Vikings go to school

Viking Chester Tours provide a great introduction to the Vikings element of Key Stage 2 studies.

We can send our costumed presenters into the classroom or show school tour groups around locations in Chester where the Vikings lived 1000 years ago.

Our mission is to bring history to life and tell the true story of the Age of the Vikings. We are happy to align our content with the requirements of different schools and can deliver classroom-based presentations at any location in the country in person.

Our costumed characters represent a male Viking Warrior and a female Shield Maiden and are historically accurate from the clothes they wear to the weapons they carry.

Our team currently includes an actor, an archaeologist and two historians so we’re well qualified and placed to provide a great source of accurate information in an entertaining and memorable way.

We can explain:

  • Where Vikings originated
  • Why they invaded Britain and the wider world
  • How they travelled
  • How they fought
  • How they lived from buildings to social structures
  • How they worshipped
  • What they ate
  • How they ruled the country
  • Why they left
Viking Runes

We can also engage children in a series of tasks about the Vikings and invite them to design a Viking shield, a scary Viking ship and a chest filled with Viking treasure; or create a bespoke package of activities in discussions with the teaching staff for better learning outcomes.

Additionally, we will feature models of a Viking building and a Viking ship in our presentation as well as replica coins and jewellery plus a series of visual aids.

We can definitely add excitement and fun to Key Stage 2 Viking studies!
